We say goodbye to Betty

We wanted to honour one of our early members, Betty Chatfield, who peacefully passed away in February at her home in Midhurst, West Sussex. Betty, mother of Yvette, pictured here together on our London Lido's day trip, was a truly wonderful, gentle, joyful lady. We learned more about Betty and her life at her funeral, about her love (and expertise) as an avid swimmer, and also walker, as well as being mother to 4 girls. Betty packed a lot into her life and we know, also, how much she enjoyed the early days of SSBS when we'd swim off Warner Road and head back as a group to Clayton Road for tea and cake in the garden.

It was a real privelidge to have known Betty and to have spent some time with her by and in the sea (as well as in London) with her and we send our utmost respects to Yvette and her sisters.
