About the event

The Big Seaweed Search is a nationwide citizen science project that you can join in to survey our local rocky shore in Selsey. We’ll be gathering to look out for specific seaweeds found around our area and reporting back to this project. Monitoring their abundance and distribution alerts us to changes in sea surface temperature and carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, and contribute to understanding of global climate change and its impact on marine life.

Di will be running the session with Justine as her helper and getting us organised. Please bring your phones if you can to record species and a pen and we'll provide the appropriate forms. The recording session will last 1 hour, but allow 2 hours and we'll be done in time to head up to the Green to listen to Sonic Soul!

Tips we've been given are:

Living seaweeds will be attached to a surface.…
