Summer's here! July Gathering & SSBS Sports Day

In July we begin to relax into summer. The evenings are long and the sea sparkles all day long. Sports Day was such a success we're doing it again in 2026! Sports Day first, followed by big dip.

About the event
July was named to honour Julius Ceasar as it's his birth month. Once it was called Hay monath by the Anglo Saxons, as this was haymaking time. Look out for Rosebay Willowherb, Poppy, Thistle, Red Campion, foraged by bees this month for this summer's honey.
This month we're running a SSBS Silly Sports Day at Lifeboat Way, so the gathering will be 11am to 1pm followed by a BYO picnic if the weather is good for those who want to stay on. The sports day element will run from approx 11am to 11.30am (give or take), and then followed by the dip (some of the sports day activities may be water related too!) so you can either come and watch the sports day element, or ideally take part, or just come along from say 11.30/11.45am or so for the dip - but we cannot guarantee timings, so please be ope…
