Marine Life Walk Selsey followed by Bathe For The Brave!

In these winter months we'll be organising a series of talks, walks, events and experiences that help connect us and teach us more about our environment. Here is the first, led by Anya Frampton from Mulberry Divers who brings a wealth of knowledge about Selsey's shoreline. You might be surprised by how much marine life you can find on our shores, so this 1.5hr walk along the beach will reveal species that specialise in being exposed at certain times of the day, or even enjoy very shallow water to sunbathe! Among the pebbles on the beach are often clues to some of the life that once lived in deeper water. Anya will show us where to look and tell us about what we can find, including facts, trivia and myths. If you have ever enjoyed rock pooling in the past, you will love this! 

All are welcome. The walk is suitable for all ages but children must be accompanied by and adult.

Come prepared to get wet up to your calves if you want to get up close and personal with some of the shy residents. 

We will meet at Oval Field by the entrance to the play park area. You can generally park quite easily there, or even better for the planet, walk or cycle.  Anya will be watching the forecast in case of extreme weather the day before so please sign up for this event as it's the only way we'll be able to contact you if we have to cancel it. From there, we'll head along East Beach towards the Lifeboat Station and end in the beer garden at the Lifeboat Inn so Anya can answer any questions you may have and for general quizzing.  It is free to attend as part of the Selsey Sea Bathing Society's events, we just ask that you make a small donation to our charity pot which we continue to add to with each event. Drinks at the Lifeboat Inn will be at your own cost.

Just added! As so many are now keen to continue bathing throughout the winter (well, at least try!) then we're adding a Bathe For The Brave after our walk, which should work out very well, tide wise. We'll swim wherever Anya finishes the walk - likely to be somewhere on East Beach. So bring your wetsuits/towels/beach shoes if you fancy this. I can't imagine many of us will get in in just our swimming costumes, but please feel free to try! I suggest bringing a flask of something hot afterwards to warm you up as we won't be at the house this time to make tea.
